MISDEMEANOR’S AND CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

A misdemeanor, although not as serious as a felony, may carry consequences that last for the remainder of one’s life. In addition to your clean record becoming tarnished, you may face up to a year in jail, a Driver’s License suspension, anger or violence classes, restrictions on your right to own firearms, community service, or a large fine. Committing certain misdemeanor offenses more than once may lead to felony charges and therefore enhanced penalties. Some misdemeanor offenses can never be expunged from your record.

An experienced lawyer may be able to help you prevent all of these consequences. I may be able to have a misdemeanor charge dropped from your record, particularly involving a minor offense or an offense committed by a first time offender.

Misdemeanors are categorized as Class A, Class B, or Class C misdemeanors. The maximum sentence for a Class A misdemeanor is a fine of $6250 and a jail sentence of one year. I represent clients in Oregon who are facing every type of misdemeanor charge, including:
